Since their start, Saraphen Films has had an eye for beauty and a mind full of stories to tell. They have been lucky to work on a variety of projects, spanning across many mediums. Formerly known as Lionkiller Filmworks, the company was founded by Stephen Blair. His background in MMA and Jiu Jitsu played a large role in the name, as the "Mata Leão" was his favorite choke-hold to perform. The term "Mata Leão" translates to lion killer in Portuguese. It wasn't until Stephen met his fiance, Sarah, that Lionkiller Filmworks began evolving into something different.

The two have always been captivated by the arts, and early on discovered that having an artistic outlet was the perfect way to express their thoughts, creativity, and imagination. In every project, they use special techniques to understand, develop and direct every scene and every character. After spending two years making short films of their own, the pair decided to rename the company by merging their names into one.
